Expanding across the Midwest with 72 more Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois

The Da'Cruz Family brand photoshoot for The Mushroom Angel Company

10 years of marriage and 3 children later, can you guess the number one leading cause of fights in our household between Dominique Da'Cruz and I?

Nope. Not finances, infidelity, children, etc.

It was food. Food (freaking) fights because of our very different taste palettes.

Like really? Food was gonna take us out?

That’s before, I, who initially didn’t like mushrooms, in a twist of events during the pandemic, inspired the first mushrooms burger, Cruz Burgers. I was honestly just trying be a good wife while we were on a Daniel’s Fast and cook something for Dom.

Dom has since perfected it. We realized that the fight wasn’t limited to our household but there’s a greater fight between whole foods and processed foods even in the plant-based category.

Listen, God wasn’t playing with us when He said in Psalm 110 1:

"Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

Today, the very thing that tried to tear us apart has brought us closer together as we’ve become founders The Mushroom Angel Company sharing the good gospel of mushrooms.

We can’t make this up. We’ve gone from fighting because of food to freedom because of food.

It’s been a wild journey to this point and we’re just getting started. Currently navigating another 72 store rollout (putting us in over 100 locations in the Midwest give or take) with Meijer across Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana this October.

We absolutely can't do this alone. We've been intentional about growing deep first before wide.

The team at Meijer have been such great partners from the start, working with us patiently as we're taking the necessary actions to scale sustainably. Everything is still so sensitive from my perspective. You know what I mean? If I can be honest with you.

From the installation of commercial equipment, to ordering a surplus of supplies and ingredients, to making requests of suppliers to extend our account payables until sales are made, training and maintaining team, to arranging logistics with regional distributor to marketing organically....must I continue?

I haven't even touched on the responsibilities in the house and keeping three children in the flow of the new school year, let alone quiet time to myself to catch a breath in between meetings.

But, what can I say? This is life at the intersection of gratitude and grind.

Y’all keep praying for us and supporting by purchasing. We must increase velocity, sales at these locations in order to scale sustainably and successfully to get wholesome mushroom products to people who want and need it most.

This assignment is bigger than us and our little family. It’s for all of US. We need you, a big part of the army, to make this happen. Link below for details on how and where to find and support this ministry. Share this post with your family and friends. Let's spread the good gospel of mushrooms.

We pray our walk of faith shakes any fear you’re facing! Sending you love and light on your own journey.
